Attended Spur meeting with the President of the Board - Supervisor David Chiu. The audience was overflowing and listening intently has the Supervisor spoke for over an hour.
Going into the job he had goals to work on public safety, quality of life, affordable housing, improve economic climate and public transit. Besides immediately becoming the President of the Board he had to add working on the budget deficit.
He believes in collaboration in coming up with a plan that everyone can agree on. Would support revenue generating items for the ballot that have a consensus. Believes the budget crisis will eventually bring better government.
In regards to District Three he does not have preconceived ideas about land use and will be more of a mediator. He wants to help small business and to keep families in San Francisco.
Questions from the audience included TIC reform, emergency response, budget deficit, flight of the African American community from San Francisco, economic growth and set asides.

State Senator Mark Leno introduced bill to preserve 60-Day Eviction Notice. The requirement of 60-days notice for eviction rather than 30-days, is set to expire January 1, 2010. Senator Mark Leno has introduced SB 290. The principal co-author of the bill is Assemblymember Alberto Torrico. The bill would remove the sunset provision, extending the 60-day notice requirements beyond January 1, 2010.
